Lines & Wrinkles

What Is It?

Also known as rhytides, are folds in your skin. As you age, your skin produces less collagen and elastin, which makes your skin thinner and less resistant to damage.

As people age, skin cells divide more slowly, and the middle layer of the skin (the dermis) starts to thin out. The dermis is composed of a network of elastin and collagen fibres, which offer support and elasticity.

As this network loosens and unravels with time, depressions are created on the skin surface. Ageing skin is also not as capable at retaining moisture, less efficient in secreting oil, and slower to heal. All of these factors contribute to the development of wrinkles.

Environmental exposure, dehydration, stress, medications, diet and toxins can all make your skin more likely to develop pronounced wrinkles and fine lines.

Ultraviolet radiation (UV) is also one of the biggest culprits when it comes to skin ageing, which speeds up the natural ageing process and can induce early onset lines. Exposure to UV light breaks down your skin’s connective tissues (found in the deepest layers of your skin’s dermis).

Treatments To Try

Red Light LED (also known as Healite) is the therapeutic use of light emitting diode (LED) light to enhance your body’s natural cellular recovery, improving healing times, relieving pain, killing of acne-causing bacteria, promoting skin rejuvenation and more. This pain-free and non-invasive treatment delivers concentrated energy deep into your tissue, affecting your body at a cellular level.

Your therapist can use Healite as a standalone therapy or as an adjunctive enhancement of recovery with nearly any procedure.

SkinPen. Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. This advanced process stimulates the body’s natural collagen production, resulting in visibly younger, smoother and firmer skin.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL). During an IPL photo-rejuvenation treatment, high energy light waves are used to reduce or eliminate many common effects of aging, including facial wrinkles and skin discolorations. IPL light also encourages the production of collagen, a natural protein that fills in wrinkles, making the skin smooth and supple.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections soften lines on the face by relaxing the underlying muscles associated with the formation of those lines. Anti-wrinkle injections are minimally invasive and have been used for a long period of time so the results are predictable and efficacious.
